In a surprising turn of events, a man who was wanted by authorities found himself being pursued down a bustling street by a police horse. The intense chase unfolded after vigilant officers recognized the wanted individual, identified as Ben Cottam, 41, who had outstanding legal issues. Despite being instructed to halt by a police officer, Cottam made a futile attempt to flee, prompting a pursuit by law enforcement.

Dramatic footage from a body-worn camera captures the moment Cottam makes a run for it in Blackburn, with the sound of approaching hoofbeats echoing loudly. The determined police officer can be heard repeatedly calling out for Cottam to stop, while the police horse charges down the street, maneuvering around surprised bystanders.

According to Lancashire Police, Cottam quickly realized he was no match for the horse and its rider. Eventually, the pursuit came to an end as Cottam surrendered and was taken into custody.

Subsequently, Cottam was remanded to HMP Preston following a brief period in police custody. Meanwhile, the police horse was rewarded for its efforts with a well-deserved rest in its stable along with a treat or two.

The police department detailed the incident, stating that on January 16, PC Loder and PH Rufford were on patrol in Blackburn when they spotted Ben Cottam, who was wanted for prison recall. Despite being given a chance to stop, Cottam attempted to outrun the police horse, only to realize that evading capture was futile. After his apprehension, Cottam was transferred to HMP Preston, and the dedicated police horse was commended for its role in the successful operation.
