Dozens of flood warnings have been issued across the UK, prompting forecasters to advise individuals to prepare emergency kits. Persistent rainfall has triggered 27 flood warnings in various regions of the UK, with the Environment Agency cautioning about flood risks in the South West, parts of the South East, and Yorkshire. Less alarming alerts have been issued for much of England.

The ongoing heavy rain is expected to persist in eastern and central Scotland, with a stationary low-pressure system to the southwest causing wet and windy conditions. Areas such as Cornwall, Devon, the South West, and southern Wales are under a yellow rain and wind warning until 9 am tomorrow.

Residents have been alerted to potential power outages, as well as possible delays in road, rail, air, and ferry services. Coastal areas are also advised to prepare for high waves. The Met Office recommended that families devise a flood plan and assemble an emergency flood kit containing essentials like torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power pack.

Met Office Chief Forecaster Neil Armstrong mentioned that an area of low pressure, named Storm Ingrid, would bring heavy rain and strong winds to southwest England on Friday before easing on Saturday morning. The slow-moving system is expected to deposit over 20mm of rain in some areas, posing risks due to already saturated ground. Additionally, coastal regions could experience large waves and gusty winds, with peak speeds reaching 60mph along southern coasts and 45-50mph inland.
