Newly uncovered video footage has revealed a depraved child predator who drugged young boys at a summer camp, engaging with law enforcement with a smirk and grin during his arrest and interrogation.
Jon Ruben, aged 76, exploited boys by giving them candy spiked with sedatives and engaging in inappropriate behavior while working at a summer camp. The disturbing incidents occurred last year at Stathern Lodge in Leicestershire. In the recently released footage from a police station, he appeared composed while responding to inquiries about his actions towards the children at the camp.
The retired veterinarian declined to answer questions posed by Leicestershire Police, maintaining a chillingly calm demeanor as he repeatedly stated “no comment” while dressed in a grey tracksuit. Throughout his arrest and police interview, he was observed smirking. The video was made public following his sentencing to 23 years and 10 months in prison, with Judge Timothy Spencer KC adding an additional period on license, resulting in a total sentence of 31 years and eight months.
Ruben had previously pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including sexual assault of a child under 13, child cruelty, creating indecent images of children, and drug-related offenses. Shockingly, he also confessed to drugging his wife, Susan Ruben, with temazepam to prevent her from interrupting his assaults on the children.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Spencer condemned Ruben’s actions, describing them as deriving sexual pleasure from premeditated manipulation and abuse of young boys. He emphasized the deliberate endangerment of the victims and labeled Ruben as a risk-taker willing to cause serious harm, categorizing him as a dangerous individual by legal standards.
In a joint statement following the court proceedings, the victims’ parents expressed their outrage and betrayal, highlighting the emotional and psychological damage inflicted on their children by Ruben’s actions. They lamented the loss of innocence, confidence, and trust suffered by their children due to the traumatic experiences orchestrated by the deceitful predator.
