“Trump’s Name Featured Prominently in Unredacted Epstein Files”

Published on

US lawmakers have stated that Donald Trump’s name appears frequently in the unredacted Jeffrey Epstein files, with claims that he was mentioned “more than a million times.” This assertion surfaced alongside revelations that a Florida police chief once recounted a conversation with Trump, where the President allegedly expressed gratitude for halting Epstein’s actions, acknowledging widespread awareness of Epstein’s misconduct.

The controversy intensified following the disclosure of a 2019 FBI interview with former Palm Beach police chief Michael Reiter, who led the initial 2005 investigation into Epstein. According to the FBI document, Trump purportedly informed Reiter that he had ejected Epstein from his club and commended the police for intervening in the matter.

Despite Trump’s repeated assertions that he distanced himself from Epstein two decades ago and expelled him from Mar-a-Lago, the FBI account appears to challenge this narrative. Lawmaker Jamie Raskin, after reviewing the unredacted files, emphasized the extensive presence of Trump’s name in the documents, suggesting a significant discrepancy with Trump’s claims.

Raskin further criticized the limited access to the files and accused it of being part of a cover-up. He highlighted an unredacted email contradicting Trump’s statement about Epstein’s membership status at Mar-a-Lago, citing Epstein’s lawyers’ interpretation of Trump’s remarks.

A Department of Justice official stated that there is no supporting evidence of Trump contacting law enforcement regarding Epstein two decades ago. Meanwhile, at the White House, press secretary Karoline Leavitt declined to confirm the reported call between Trump and Reiter.

Reiter, who had contentious interactions with local prosecutors in 2006 regarding the case, later cooperated with federal authorities in a separate investigation leading to Epstein’s controversial 2008 non-prosecution agreement. He has not responded to inquiries about his FBI interview. Epstein died by suicide in custody in 2019 while facing federal sex trafficking charges.
