Authorities have initiated a murder investigation following the death of a man in a hospital after an alleged assault outside a pub.
The man, aged 37 and from Tredegar, was hospitalized in critical condition after the purported attack outside a Wetherspoon pub in southern Wales.
Gwent Police confirmed the man’s passing in the hospital on Tuesday, prompting the launch of a murder inquiry linked to the incident at The Picture House in Ebbw Vale over the weekend. The incident occurred outside The Picture House on Bethcar Street between 11:30 pm on Friday, February 20, and 12:15 am on Saturday, February 21.
A 30-year-old man from Cardiff, previously detained on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident, has been re-arrested on suspicion of murder, according to a statement from the police. He is currently in police custody undergoing questioning.
Gwent Police spokesperson mentioned that their investigation into the matter is progressing rapidly.
