Her remains were discovered 13 years later in October 2009, wrapped in rope and bin bags near Thornbury, Glos, 28 miles away from the club.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Lavender is set to appeal for information on Crimewatch Live, urging people to recall details from the weekend of Melanie’s disappearance. Melanie’s father emphasized that while the apprehension and conviction of her killer won’t provide closure, it would ensure justice for Melanie.

The investigation into Melanie’s murder has undergone thorough scrutiny by Avon and Somerset Police, with a significant reduction in persons of interest and a focus on re-interviewing alibi witnesses. Detective Chief Inspector Lavender highlighted the importance of the location where Melanie’s remains were found near M5, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
