Man with Nazi Obsession Pleads Guilty to Terrorism Charges

Published on

A man fixated on weapons and with a keen interest in Nazi Germany has pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges. Paul Page, 52, residing in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, was discovered to have amassed over 600 weapons, including landmines, grenades, rifles, and ammunition, according to police reports.

The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) disclosed that Page also possessed explosive substances, along with guides and manuals detailing the production of explosives and firearms. Upon a police raid at his residence in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, officers uncovered extensive Nazi memorabilia, including Second World War weapons, chemicals, and Swastika flags.

In 2023, an investigation by Cambridgeshire Police into reports of Page downloading child abuse images led to the discovery of Nazi flags, Second World War weapons, and chemicals at his property. Subsequently, Page was sentenced to 20 months in prison for possessing indecent images of children.

Following this, ERSOU conducted a separate investigation into items found in an outbuilding at Page’s address. Detectives from ERSOU’s Counter Terrorism Policing unit determined that Page had amassed a collection of over 600 weapons and other military items associated with Nazi activities during the war. Although some items were legal memorabilia, Page was found in possession of prohibited items, including landmines, grenades, rifles, and ammunition.

Authorities seized a book containing instructions on manufacturing a sub-machine gun, as well as firearm components, bullet casings, and shells. Additionally, they discovered chemicals that, when combined, could serve as precursor materials for explosives. Page had also obtained a banned document with instructions on creating viable explosives.

During police interviews, Page denied holding extreme right-wing beliefs, despite evidence such as his email address referencing numbers linked to Adolf Hitler and a tattoo associated with white supremacy. He pleaded guilty to multiple offenses, including possessing materials useful for terrorism and various firearm-related charges.

Hannah Wilkinson, head of ERSOU, expressed concern over Page’s fascination with Nazi Germany and World War Two, highlighting the risks posed by his collection of dangerous chemicals, banned documents on firearm and explosive production, and weapon obsession. Page is currently in custody awaiting sentencing at the Old Bailey on May 1.
