“Man Guilty of Attempted Assault on Minor During In-Flight Incident”

Published on

A man, identified as Ramiz Idrizi, aged 38, has been found guilty of multiple offenses, including the attempted sexual assault of a minor under 13, following an incident on an easyJet flight. During a turbulent flight from Paris to Belfast International on November 14, Idrizi, who had consumed most of the five mini bottles of wine he purchased onboard, was involved in disturbing behavior.

Although Idrizi was acquitted of one charge involving a female passenger, he was convicted of attempting to sexually assault her daughter and physically assaulting another male passenger who intervened. Additionally, he admitted to being intoxicated on the flight and verbally abusing the cabin crew.

Eyewitnesses reported that Idrizi made inappropriate advances towards the young girl, causing her to react in fear. Another passenger in the same row noticed the uncomfortable situation and offered to switch seats with the mother and daughter. Idrizi’s erratic behavior escalated when confronted by the male passenger, leading to further verbal insults and disruptive actions.

Cabin crew intervened after being alerted to the situation, ultimately relocating nearby passengers for safety. Despite being confronted by authorities, Idrizi refused to cooperate and continued to exhibit aggressive behavior, even resorting to physical violence by punching the aircraft wall as it landed.

During the trial, Idrizi defended himself, admitting to his intoxicated state and insulting remarks but denied any inappropriate physical contact with the child. However, District Judge Nigel Broderick deemed the testimonies of witnesses, including passengers and cabin crew, as credible and reliable.

Following the guilty verdicts, Judge Broderick decided to request a comprehensive report before sentencing, showing consideration for the defendant. Idrizi was released on bail and is scheduled to face sentencing on April 28, pending further legal proceedings.
