A tragic incident in a popular holiday destination has claimed the life of a young woman engaged in a tandem paragliding flight. Cristina Colturi, a 28-year-old Italian national residing in Tenerife, was involved in a paragliding accident near La Enramada beach in Costa Adeje. Despite emergency crews’ efforts to save her, Cristina was found in cardiac arrest and later passed away in the hospital after two days.
Having moved to Tenerife a year ago, Cristina’s family consented to organ donation and arranged for her burial on the island as per her wishes. Originally from Castelnuovo Bozzente near Milan, she worked as a colour analyst at a local hotel. Her interest in paragliding was reignited when her partner gifted her the excursion for Christmas, following her previous experience in Italy.
The paragliding instructor involved in the accident sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently under medical care at South Tenerife Hospital. Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the tragic incident.
