A prominent technology firm specializing in AI-driven software is presenting a yearly internship opportunity of £60,000 to high school graduates.
Palantir Technologies is encouraging young individuals to bypass university debt by applying for its Meritocracy Fellowship. Successful candidates will engage in full-time work at the company’s London office for five months, with a pro-rata salary of up to £60,000.
The program may lead to a permanent position at the company with a potential salary increase, although it is not guaranteed.
As per The Sun, participants will tackle projects focused on defending Western values and supporting critical institutions like the NHS to address their major challenges.
Palantir aims to attract youths interested in pursuing computer science degrees at university. Applicants must have completed their A-Levels or equivalent qualifications by the fellowship’s commencement in October 2026.
The internship period is scheduled until February 2027.
Louis Mosley, the executive vice president and head of Palantir UK, stated that the company seeks the best tech talent in the UK, offering eighteen-year-olds the chance to transition from school to work directly alongside top engineers globally.
Mosley emphasized the value of learning on the job at Palantir over spending years at university acquiring potentially outdated knowledge while accumulating debt. He highlighted the company’s increased investment in Britain and the crucial role he believes the next generation of British tech talent will play in advancing AI technologies for everyone.
This initiative comes amidst growing discontent related to the Plan 2 student loan system, where interest rates are tied to inflation plus up to 3% based on graduates’ earnings.
In her autumn budget announcement, Chancellor Rachel Reeves froze the repayment threshold at £29,385 for three years starting in April. She acknowledged the flaws in the student loan system but indicated that addressing the issue was not a primary focus for the Government.
Reeves expressed a commitment to improving the system despite other pressing priorities. She underscored the need to enhance opportunities for young individuals while acknowledging the need for reforms in the student loan system.
