Zara Larsson Criticizes Justin Bieber’s Lackluster Coachella Performance
Pop star Zara Larsson joined the chorus of critics slamming Justin Bieber’s recent lackluster Coachella performance. Despite high anticipation, Justin’s appearance fell flat, leaving fans disappointed with what they described as a “lazy” and underwhelming show.
Reportedly, Justin raked in around $10 million (£7.4 million) for his slot at the renowned music festival, but many attendees felt shortchanged by the lackluster performance.
Taking to TikTok, Swedish singer Zara shared a video of herself watching Justin’s subdued set, sarcastically commenting, “It’s giving let’s smoke and watch YouTube,” while playfully referencing cannabis in the caption.
Rather than delivering an energetic show, Justin opted for a laid-back approach, performing a selection of mellow tunes while seated on a stool. Fans were further irked as Justin appeared to be casually browsing through YouTube videos of his own songs on a laptop during the set.
Due to delays caused by high winds, Justin’s performance started late into the evening. In an attempt to engage the audience, he asked fans to participate by suggesting songs for him to perform during the livestream.
The performance consisted of a brief medley of 12 of his older tracks, leaving fans unimpressed and prompting a wave of criticism on social media platforms like Twitter, where one user expressed frustration, accusing Justin of essentially playing YouTube videos for his hefty paycheck.
While Justin’s Coachella appearance stirred controversy, it is not the first time the festival has seen unexpected moments. In a memorable incident from 2015, Madonna surprised Drake with a spontaneous kiss during his headline performance, eliciting a shocked and somewhat uncomfortable reaction from the rapper.
Despite the backlash, Hailey Bieber stood by her husband during his set, receiving a heartfelt shoutout from Justin as he performed his soulful track “Everything Hallelujah,” expressing gratitude for his family on stage.
The camera captured Hailey and their son Jack as she reciprocated the love with a gesture towards Justin, and later took to Instagram to show her support leading up to the performance.
