Sherrie Hewson, known for her role as Joyce Temple-Savage in the popular ITV sitcom Benidorm, has shared an update on the possibility of a reboot. The show aired from 2007 to 2018, with Sherrie joining the cast in 2012 as the new manageress of the Solana hotel in Benidorm, Spain. Despite its success over 10 seasons, the series was canceled in 2018 due to declining ratings in later seasons.
Even after almost 8 years since its finale, Benidorm continues to attract a loyal fan base through streaming platforms, sparking speculations about a potential revival. However, Sherrie revealed in an interview with The Sun that there are no current plans for a comeback, as actors are often the last to be informed about such decisions.
Nevertheless, she expressed her belief that the show should return, citing its enduring popularity and high viewership ratings. Rumors of a reboot have circulated for some time, with reports suggesting that ITV is considering bringing back the beloved series for an eleventh season, although no official confirmation has been made yet.
Creator Derren Litten previously hinted at a wealth of new episode ideas and expressed willingness to continue the series if given the opportunity. Fans have eagerly supported the prospect of more Benidorm episodes, urging ITV and even Netflix to consider the revival. Despite briefly stepping back from writing in 2020, Derren announced his return to the craft in 2024, hinting at potential future projects in television and theater.
