A former child actor known for his role in “The Hunger Games” film has been arrested on three charges of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill. Ethan Jamieson, who played a District 4 tribute in the 2012 movie, allegedly used a 9mm semi-automatic handgun to assault three individuals in Raleigh, North Carolina, on March 23. He was apprehended on April 9.
Apart from his appearance in “The Hunger Games,” Jamieson had roles in “One Tree Hill” in 2009 and other productions such as “The Rusty Bucket Kids: Lincoln,” “Journey to 16,” and a short film named “Gravity.” Following his stint in “The Hunger Games,” he featured in a documentary about the film’s production and a TV mini-series called “Extras: The Hunger Games.”
According to reports, police were notified of shots fired at 9:52 pm local time, and during the investigation, Jamieson was identified as the individual who discharged a gunshot towards the victims’ vehicle. Jamieson, aged 27, was subsequently arrested and charged, with the victims identified only as E.F., J.M., and K.W. in court documents obtained by the Daily Mail.
Jamieson was denied bail on April 9, and his next court appearance is scheduled for April 30. This is not the first time Jamieson has faced legal issues, as he was previously arrested and charged with resisting arrest in March 2025. His sentencing for the 2025 incident occurred shortly after his recent alleged assault.
His most recent acting role was in 2013 for the crime series “Justified,” where he portrayed the character Milo Truth. Reflecting on his experience with “The Hunger Games,” Jamieson mentioned that while it was exciting to be recognized, he preferred living a more ordinary life.
Fans of “The Hunger Games” franchise are eagerly anticipating the upcoming prequel film, “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” set to be released later this year. The prequel, set 24 years before the original film, will delve into the younger years of iconic characters like Effie Trinket and Haymitch Abernathy.
The prequel centers around Haymitch, portrayed by Joseph Zada this time, participating in the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell, which features double the number of tributes, leading to increased casualties compared to previous editions.
