The operators of a hotel where a young woman tragically passed away are scheduled to appear in court. Liverpool City Council is pursuing legal action against Britannia Hotels following the death of Chloe Haynes, 21, at the Adelphi Hotel in September 2022. Chloe was discovered deceased in her hotel room, prompting an investigation by the council. While three men were initially arrested on suspicion of murder, they were later released without charge as authorities determined her death to be accidental.
Liverpool City Council’s Environmental Health department conducted an inquiry, leading to the decision to prosecute Britannia Hotels for alleged health and safety violations. The legal proceedings are expected to commence on May 7 at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court. In response, a spokesperson for Britannia Hotels stated that they are cooperating fully with the legal process and expressed condolences to the affected families.
Chloe’s mother, Nicola Williams, expressed her determination to uncover the details surrounding her daughter’s tragic demise. Chloe, who had traveled from North Wales for a night out, was found in her hotel room by a colleague after consuming alcohol. She accidentally suffocated after a wardrobe fell on her as she mistook it for a door in her disoriented state.
Miss Williams described Chloe as a compassionate individual who loved animals and struggled with self-confidence. She affectionately referred to her daughter as ‘Birdy’ due to her petite stature. Despite her physical beauty, Chloe’s inner kindness and humility were what made her truly special.
