The family of a student who tragically died from multiple stab wounds has spoken about him as a promising and unassuming young individual with a bright future. Jamie Collins, aged 21, was discovered deceased in the garden of a residence on Cleve Road, Filton, Bristol, early Thursday morning. His loved ones described him as gentle, kind, and on the brink of completing his studies at the University of the West of England (UWE).
Collins was preparing to return home to Swansea in a few weeks when police apprehended his fellow student and housemate, Zack Coughlan, 23, who was subsequently charged with murder and brought before Bristol Crown Court.
Expressing their profound grief, Collins’ family conveyed their disbelief at the tragic loss, emphasizing his potential for a successful future in engineering and robotics. They acknowledged the immense support received from Jamie’s friends and the community during this difficult time.
UWE acknowledged Collins as an active participant in student societies and expressed deep shock over the distressing news of his demise. Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Edgeworth of the Major Crime Investigation Team at Avon and Somerset Police noted the impact on those who knew Jamie and assured ongoing support in the area, collaborating closely with the university.
Coughlan is scheduled to appear at Bristol Crown Court on June 19, with a provisional trial date set for October 12. REWRITE_BLOCKED:
