“Heightened Security at Southport Prison for Notorious Child Murderer”

Published on

Increased security measures have been implemented at a Southport prison due to the presence of a notorious child murderer. Axel Rudakubana, 19, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of three young girls, is now under heightened surveillance at HMP Belmarsh in South East London. Following past violent incidents involving Rudakubana, he is now accompanied by a minimum of four guards whenever he leaves his cell.

An investigative report highlighted that the fatal 2024 stabbing incident, which shocked the UK, could have been prevented with better intervention from relevant agencies to address the teenager’s behavior. The report also emphasized that if Rudakubana’s parents had taken appropriate action, the tragic attack could have been averted.

According to sources, prison guards are apprehensive about Rudakubana’s potential for violence, leading to strict security measures in place. Despite receiving psychological support, concerns remain about Rudakubana’s unchanged behavior and the likelihood of further violent acts in the prison environment.

Due to resource constraints, Rudakubana is often confined to his cell for up to 23 hours a day, as sufficient personnel are required to escort him within the facility. The Ministry of Justice has been contacted for official comments regarding the situation.

In a separate incident in May 2025, Rudakubana allegedly assaulted two officers with boiling water, resulting in their hospitalization. The Ministry of Justice is investigating this matter.

The families of the victims in the Southport tragedy have expressed anger towards Rudakubana’s parents, accusing them of negligence. Legal representatives have called for disciplinary actions against those responsible for the oversight that allowed the tragedy to occur, emphasizing the need for accountability and swift resolution in the matter.
