Farage’s Team Accused of Physical Altercation in Parking Dispute

Published on

Nigel Farage’s associates were caught on camera physically handling a man during a dispute over a parking issue involving the Reform party leader’s vehicle left in a designated disabled parking spot.

Don Whittle, a pensioner with health conditions including heart failure, rheumatoid arthritis, and spinal stenosis, and equipped with a pacemaker, reported being forcibly touched by individuals working for the Member of Parliament while he was in Shetland before the Scottish elections on May 7. Local residents expressed anger over the conduct of some of Farage’s team members during their visit. Don explained that he needed the disabled spot to drop off his wife but found it occupied by Farage’s car.

Expressing his frustration, Don stated that he finds it offensive when able-bodied individuals occupy parking spaces designated for disabled people. He recounted attempting to take photos of the unauthorized parking, which prompted the offenders to relocate to double yellow lines on a street corner. When he tried to capture this behavior, a confrontation ensued, preventing him from returning to the sidewalk by a security guard affiliated with the Reform party.

Don shared his experience with the Daily Record, explaining how he was physically stopped from taking pictures of the obstructing vehicles by a member of Farage’s team while trying to navigate between the cars on the road. Additionally, he mentioned that when he confronted the Reform group about their actions, he was forcibly moved away from the vehicles.

According to Don, he stood in front of Farage’s car to make a point, but two individuals associated with Farage’s team physically removed him from the area without consideration for his disability or his attempts to communicate with them.

John Erskine, a Labour candidate in Shetland, witnessed the incident and criticized Farage’s team for their heavy-handed response to the situation, describing the intrusion into the area as “shocking” and lacking in respect and decency towards a disabled individual.

This altercation follows previous tensions between Farage and Shetland locals, who confronted him for his comments suggesting the need for wealthy individuals in politics to generate income for the country. The incident further escalated when a local resident criticized Farage for his wealth and labeled him as a “scrounger.”

The clash with locals and the altercation with Don have raised concerns about Farage’s approach during his visit to Shetland, with accusations of disrespect and confrontational behavior towards residents.
