Vodafone Introduces AI-Powered Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Phone Scams
The rise of unwanted phone calls has become a prevalent issue for smartphone users, with reports indicating that the average UK consumer faces around eight such calls monthly. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
To address this concern and enhance customer safety, Vodafone has unveiled a new service named Scam Call Protection. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), this innovative feature is designed to detect and flag potentially deceptive, spam, scam, and bothersome calls.
The functionality operates discreetly in the background, scrutinizing all incoming calls to users’ phones. If any suspicious activity is detected, customers will receive a straightforward on-screen notification highlighting the call as potentially fraudulent.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone, emphasized the growing challenge of identifying scam calls, stating, “Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile provides customers with an additional layer of security by continuously monitoring calls and flagging known or suspected scam calls.” This introduction reinforces Vodafone’s commitment to delivering comprehensive built-in digital security, empowering individuals to feel more secure, informed, and in control of their online interactions.
The Scam Call Protection feature is an extension of Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already offers advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to prevent identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.
Interested users can avail of a complimentary three-month trial of the service, following which it is priced at £2 per month.
