Actress Nadia Farès, 57, has passed away after being discovered unconscious in a gym pool. The French actress, renowned for her roles in the psychological thriller “The Crimson Rivers” and the French adaptation of “Luther,” leaves behind two daughters who confirmed her death on Friday.
Her daughters shared the heartbreaking news that Nadia tragically drowned at a prestigious sports club in Paris. They expressed their deep sorrow, stating, “It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Nadia Farès this Friday. France has lost a great artist, but for us, it is above all a mother we have just lost.”
Nadia, who was born in Morocco, was swimming at the pool last weekend when she suddenly lost consciousness. Another swimmer attempted to revive her with CPR before she was rushed to Pitie-Salpetriere hospital. Despite being placed in a medically induced coma, she suffered a cardiac arrest and sadly passed away.
The talented actress had been open about her health challenges, including undergoing brain surgery for an aneurysm in 2007 and three heart surgeries within four years.
Moving to France from Morocco in 1968, Nadia began her television career in the early 90s and later appeared in the popular film “Elles n’oublient jamais.” She collaborated with director Bernie Bonvoisin on three films, including the comedy “Les Demons de Jesus.”
However, her most notable role was in Mathieu Kassovitz’s “Les Rivières pourpres” alongside French legend Jean Reno, where she portrayed twin sisters. Nadia had a successful career in both TV and cinema, working with renowned actors such as Mel Gibson, Jason Statham, and Jet Li.
She also starred in the Netflix series “Marseille” and made her final screen appearance in the 2025 film “Toujours.” Nadia had aspirations to direct her first film and had expressed excitement about working on an action comedy project with Studios TF1.
In her personal life, Nadia married producer Steve Chasman in 2002 and they welcomed two daughters before separating four years ago. She then returned to live in France.
