A grandfather, known for his kindness, was discovered deceased in a river, prompting a murder investigation. Authorities swiftly responded to reports of a man in the river at Victoria Park in Leamington Spa early Wednesday morning. The victim, identified as Adam Lucas, in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that the man succumbed to injuries indicative of an assault. Warwickshire Police initiated a murder probe and appealed to anyone who witnessed or heard anything suspicious in the vicinity from late Tuesday night to Wednesday morning to come forward.
In a statement, his family expressed shock and devastation over the sudden loss of Adam, describing him as a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. They requested thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time as a family.
Detective Inspector Gareth Unett assured the community of ongoing efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. The investigation includes reviewing CCTV footage and deploying officers in and around the park to provide support and reassurance. The public was urged to report any relevant information and advised against spreading speculation online to prevent additional distress to the family and potential interference with the investigation.
