The Chief Rabbi of the UK has expressed concerns over the increasing number of attacks on the Jewish community, following a recent arson incident at a synagogue in London. Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis condemned the attack at Kenton United Synagogue in Harrow as “cowardly,” which caused minor smoke damage to a room with no reported injuries.

This incident is part of a series of arson and attempted arson attacks on Jewish sites and properties within the past month, prompting a counter-terror police investigation. In a social media statement, Sir Ephraim highlighted the recent attacks on Jewish sites in London, emphasizing the need to address the escalating violence and intimidation against the Jewish community in the UK.

Various incidents, including attacks on a Persian language media organization and ambulances operated by the Jewish community in North London, are under investigation alongside the recent synagogue arson. The Metropolitan Police confirmed damage to a window at the Kenton United Synagogue but disclosed that no arrests have been made yet.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans of the Metropolitan Police reported ongoing investigations into the attacks on Jewish and Israeli businesses and sites. She mentioned that a group named Ashab al-Yamin claimed responsibility for these attacks and emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards activities that aim to harm communities and sow division. As the situation unfolds, authorities are alert to potential Iranian-linked threats amid evolving conflicts in the Middle East.
