Sky has launched two new smart home plans in the UK, introducing internet-connected cameras with full cloud recordings starting from just £5 per month. This competitive pricing aims to provide savings of over £100 compared to purchasing a Ring system via Amazon.

The first option includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for a monthly fee of £5 along with a one-time upfront payment of £15. This package offers features such as full HD video recording, real-time alerts to your phone, customizable activity zones, two-way communication, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For additional peace of mind, customers can opt for the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the goal of making high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The initiative aims to simplify the process of staying connected to one’s home without complexity.

These new plans mark a significant expansion of Sky’s home security offerings, shifting from the previous focus on Protect Smart Home Insurance that bundled cameras and alarms. Customers now have the option to purchase Sky Smart Home products as standalone services for the first time.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers interested in cloud recording access would also need a Ring Protect subscription, starting at £4.99 per month.
