Joanna Page, known for her role in Gavin and Stacey, recently shared how she transformed her lifestyle following health concerns that led her to reevaluate her well-being. At the age of 48, the actress decided to undergo a comprehensive set of health assessments to gain a better understanding of her overall health status.
Now 49, the Swansea native underwent various screenings, including tests for bowel cancer, mammogram, blood work, and cervical screening. The results revealed that Joanna was carrying excess weight, a situation she partly attributed to her past eating habits which lacked sufficient fruits and vegetables.
The findings not only highlighted the physical aspect but also emotionally impacted her, making her more aware of potential long-term health risks. Concerned about conditions like diabetes, strokes, and heart disease, especially as a mother of four children, Joanna decided to make significant lifestyle changes.
She revamped her diet by incorporating more nutritious foods, increasing her consumption of eggs, and reducing sugar intake. As a result, she successfully shed “a couple of dress sizes” while maintaining aspects of her figure that she is content with.
Apart from her health journey, Joanna has been vocal about her personal life, expressing her emotions as her children grow older. She discussed the mixed feelings of pride and sadness as she contemplates her children leaving home in the future.
In addition to her acting career and family life, Joanna has ventured into writing and broadcasting, hosting a weekly podcast. She mentioned that the podcast, which her husband has also appeared on, has positively influenced their relationship, describing it as a form of couples therapy that strengthens their bond.
