A 16-year-old girl in a state of distress was rescued from an alleged abductor after silently signaling for help to a store employee.

The young girl sought assistance from a gas station worker in Michigan, USA, after indicating her need for support upon entering the store.

On the morning of April 13, the girl, waiting at a bus stop in Hamtramck, was reportedly coerced into a van at gunpoint by Donald Fields, as stated by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

Another student from the same school witnessed the incident and promptly dialed 911 as Fields drove away.

According to prosecutors, Fields, aged 48, allegedly sexually assaulted the girl inside the van before stopping at a gas station and accompanying her into the store.

The Hamtramck Police Department initiated a search for the teenager after receiving notifications from classmates who tracked her location to the station.

Abdulrahman Abohatem, the employee on duty, noticed the girl’s distress when Fields asked her to purchase cigarettes and she discreetly mouthed the word ‘help’ to him.

Abohatem intervened, ensuring the girl’s safety by escorting her away from Fields.

Responding officers swiftly arrived at the scene after being informed by students of the girl’s whereabouts.

Police bodycam footage captured the moment Fields was apprehended as he exited the store alone, questioning the reason for his detention.

Additional footage released by authorities depicted the alleged abduction of the teenager from the bus stop.

Fields faces charges including first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, felonious assault, felony firearm possession, and being a felon in possession of a firearm due to prior sexual assault charges.

During his arraignment, Fields pleaded not guilty and is currently detained without bail, scheduled for a court appearance on April 30.

Prosecutors commended the quick thinking of the young girl, emphasizing her bravery and resilience in a traumatic situation.
