Actress Kimberley Nixon has opened up about a challenging two-year period of struggling with her mental health, revealing that at one point she considered turning herself in to the police. Known for her roles in “Death in Paradise” and “Fresh Meat,” Kimberley shared that her battle with postnatal OCD after giving birth in 2020 caused her to feel disconnected from herself.

The 40-year-old actress, who has Autism and ADHD, disclosed that she developed the mental health condition during the Covid pandemic shortly after welcoming her son through IVF. She described feeling overwhelmed by obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors, reaching a point where she feared she could harm someone.

During an episode of the podcast “I’m ADHD! No You’re Not,” Kimberley expressed the fear and confusion she experienced during this challenging period, where she struggled to recognize herself and felt lost in her identity. She recalled moments of contemplating drastic actions and feeling disconnected from reality.

After seeking help, Kimberley was diagnosed with perinatal OCD, a condition that can manifest during pregnancy or within the first year postpartum. Last June, she shared her double diagnosis of ADHD and Autism, emphasizing her journey of self-discovery and acceptance.

Kimberley, known for her roles in “Death in Paradise” and “Fresh Meat,” expressed gratitude to her supporters for standing by her through her struggles. The actress, who shares a son with her husband Cai Howells, highlighted the importance of sharing her story to raise awareness and show compassion for those facing similar challenges in their mental health journeys.
