Two individuals are in critical condition and several others have been injured following a shooting at a shopping mall in Louisiana. Law enforcement authorities are currently working to apprehend the suspects involved in the incident.

The Baton Rouge Police Department has reported that six individuals may have sustained injuries during the incident at the Mall of Louisiana. Police officers armed with weapons have swarmed the area, and the public has been advised to steer clear of the vicinity.

The shooting is believed to have occurred near the mall’s food court, where paramedics have set up a triage area close to a JCPenney store. Emergency Medical Services have confirmed that six victims have been taken for medical treatment. The mall’s entrances and exits have been cleared for the exclusive use of emergency responders.

According to reports from KPLC 7 News, authorities are currently searching for one to two individuals suspected to be the shooters.

Governor Jeff Landry, in a statement, acknowledged the active shooter situation at the Mall of Louisiana. He assured that he is working closely with law enforcement to gather information and advised the public to avoid the area. Additionally, Attorney General Liz Murrill mentioned that District Attorney Hillar Moore is actively monitoring the situation involving gunfire at the mall’s Food Court.

“Multiple law enforcement agencies are responding – please avoid the area. More details will be available soon,” Liz Murrill stated.
