“Darts Rivalry Escalates: Littler and Van Veen Still Not Speaking”

Published on

Luke Littler has acknowledged that he has yet to engage in any conversation with Gian van Veen to resolve their heated dispute. The confrontation between the two occurred during night nine of the Premier League in Manchester three weeks ago.

Following a contentious victory by Van Veen against the two-time world champion, the Dutch player accused Littler of provocative behavior towards the audience when he missed crucial darts. Since then, tensions have persisted between the two. Littler disclosed after securing a win on night 12 in Manchester that they are still not communicating.

Littler mentioned, “No, we have not spoken, but I don’t feel inclined to initiate a conversation with him. Perhaps he is expecting me to make the first move, but that’s not my style.” He emphasized his reserved nature, stating, “Even in the practice room, others usually initiate conversations with me. I am not one to engage in idle chatter.”

Regarding the ongoing conflict, Littler suggested resolving it on the dartboard. He expressed that while they have moved on professionally, off-stage communication remains non-existent. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about potential reconciliation.

In a separate event, Littler encountered another unfriendly reception in Liverpool after securing a victory. However, he noted that the reaction was milder compared to the booing he faced in Rotterdam earlier. He emphasized his ability to focus and win under challenging circumstances.

Looking ahead, the Premier League will resume in Aberdeen, where Littler will face Josh Rock in the quarter-finals, while Van Veen is set to compete against Jonny Clayton.
