Police have apprehended a woman following the tragic deaths of two young boys, aged one and three, in a house fire in Wolverhampton. The woman, in her 30s, is currently under custody as investigations unfold regarding the fire that occurred on Mason Street around 8:30 pm on Friday. Despite swift advanced life support efforts by ambulance medics at the scene, the children could not be saved.

The two boys were pronounced dead at the scene, while two other children and a woman managed to escape the house before emergency services arrived and did not require medical attention. Authorities are collaborating with fire service personnel to determine the precise circumstances of the fire. Door-to-door inquiries are being conducted, and CCTV footage in the area is being reviewed.

A cordon will likely remain in place at the scene for an extended period, as confirmed by West Midlands Police. DCI Kylie Westlake, from the public protection unit, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and emphasized the ongoing efforts to understand the situation. The woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of the two children.

The public is urged not to speculate on the incident, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to come forward to assist the investigation. Information can be provided to West Midlands Police by calling 101 or using the Live Chat feature on their website, quoting log 5640 of 24 April.
