A vibrant 17-year-old girl known as Summer tragically lost her life in a car accident. The incident occurred when the Vauxhall Corsa she was a passenger in veered off the road and crashed into a tree at approximately 11 pm on Sunday, according to Derbyshire police.
Summer passed away at the scene on Sutton Lane, Sutton Scarsdale. The 19-year-old male driver was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
In a heartbreaking tribute, Summer’s mother described her as an outgoing and lively young girl who was talkative, charismatic, and enjoyed being in the spotlight. Summer had recently started working at McDonald’s and was studying construction in college with a focus on carpentry, planning to work alongside her stepdad Julian.
Known for her playful nature, Summer was enthusiastic about piercings and looked forward to getting her first tattoo upon turning 18 in October. She had a passion for dining out, spending time with friends, and caring for her pets, particularly her three horses which she shared with her mother, Beckie.
Family was paramount to Summer, and she cherished her younger sisters Bonnie and Bella. She was dearly loved as a daughter, sister, niece, and cousin, embracing life to the fullest as a 17-year-old.
Her father reminisced about how Summer always had a smile on her face and brightened every room she entered. He recalled her love for baking, cooking, making YouTube videos, supporting Mansfield Town, assisting with household chores, and sharing jokes with her granddad George and dad Rob.
Summer’s granddad affectionately called her Twinkle for the joy she brought into his life. Her radiant and conversational personality left a lasting impact on those around her. Her untimely passing has left a profound void in the lives of her family and everyone who was fortunate to know her.
