Formerly disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has recently installed a light blue front door, symbolizing his diminished status since his fall from grace.
This change reflects his relocation to Marsh Farm within the vast Sandringham estate owned by King Charles. The move came after his departure from the Royal Lodge in Windsor, prompted by his connection to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender.
His new five-bedroom residence shares the same light blue front door color as other properties on the estate, all owned by his brother, the King. The tradition of painting front doors light blue across the estate, spanning 12 villages and over 300 properties, originated from the Queen Mother.
The estimated value of the Sandringham property portfolio is £75 million, with the King covering Mountbatten-Windsor’s living expenses and refurbishment costs for Marsh Farm, given his financial difficulties.
A local resident remarked on Andrew’s changed circumstances, noting that his front door now aligns with those of estate staff, highlighting his loss of status. The door color signifies the King’s ownership and the support provided to Andrew by his brother, as tenants are prohibited from altering the door.
Tenants at Sandringham face unique regulations, including restrictions on fences and a strict policy against owning cats to protect young pheasants bred for hunting purposes.
Marsh Farm, located two miles from the main Sandringham House, was renovated for Mountbatten-Windsor, featuring new security measures such as high fences and modern amenities like Sky TV and broadband services.
Mountbatten-Windsor’s association with Epstein led to his removal of royal titles, and he faces ongoing investigations for alleged misconduct. UK and US authorities are examining his connections and activities related to the financier, with multiple allegations under review.
