A young child is in critical condition after a harrowing drowning incident at a hotel pool on a Spanish island. The four-year-old was rescued from the southern Gran Canaria swimming pool last Saturday. Despite immediate care, the child’s condition remains severe.

According to The Sun, the boy experienced a serious drowning episode, prompting emergency responders to swiftly transfer him to a medical facility in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Due to his deteriorating condition, specialized rescue teams were called in for further assistance.

The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) conducted a dramatic helicopter rescue mission to airlift the child. The helicopter landed at a nearby school’s car park, where an ambulance awaited to transport the child to Las Palmas with constant monitoring by a medical team.

Upon arrival at the University Maternal and Child Hospital in Las Palmas, the boy was received by medical staff and pediatric specialists. Authorities confirmed the child displayed severe drowning symptoms before the urgent transfer and remains in a critical state.
