A well-established clothing manufacturer in the UK has gone into liquidation after over four decades in operation, resulting in all remaining employees being left without jobs.
North East Rig Out (Aberdeen) Limited, a Scottish clothing company based in Aberdeen, specialized in producing workwear, school uniforms, and custom protective clothing for various industries such as oil and gas, engineering, construction, transport, and retail. The company has permanently closed down, leading to the unemployment of eight workers.
The appointment of insolvency specialists MHA as liquidators followed a voluntary decision to wind up the company. Official documents filed under the Insolvency Act 1986 confirmed that the firm had to cease trading due to its overwhelming debts.
The downfall of the company was attributed to the prolonged challenges in Scotland’s energy sector, which have placed significant financial pressure on businesses in the North-east region.
Michael Reid from MHA, appointed as the liquidator, expressed the difficulties faced by everyone involved due to the sustained downturn in the energy sector affecting many businesses in the North-east.
The company, also known as NERO, highlighted its expertise in manufacturing both standard and custom garments, including personalized PPE and coveralls for industrial clients. They offered services such as embroidery, heatseal branding, and laser logo services for corporate clients, schools, and sports clubs.
North East Rig Out’s product range catered to various sectors, including oil and gas, construction, automotive, aviation, shipping, military, and public sector organizations, emphasizing design, functionality, durability, and comfort in their workwear offerings.
