A young traveler recounts a harrowing experience where she was abandoned by the roadside after a motorcycle accident in Thailand. Chloe Foster, 26, was a passenger on the bike when it overturned, and the rider fled without seeking help.
The incident occurred in the early hours following a full moon party on Ko Phangan island. Struggling to find a taxi, Chloe accepted a ride from a local British man, assuming safety due to their shared nationality. Regrettably, she soon realized her misjudgment.
The ride turned perilous as the bike sped through hilly terrain at around 30-40mph before crashing and throwing Chloe several meters away. Knocked unconscious, she was aided by strangers who later explained the sequence of events, including the rider’s sudden disappearance without seeking assistance.
A nearby doctor and an ambulance eventually arrived to tend to Chloe, who woke up in a hospital the next day with a broken foot, fractured face, and severe swelling and bruising. Disoriented and in distress, she noted the language barrier with Thai hospital staff made her ordeal even more frightening.
After a week-long hospital stay, Chloe was discharged but faced a £4,000 medical bill due to insurance coverage limitations. Despite assistance from her family and a GoFundMe campaign set up for additional costs, her recovery journey is expected to be prolonged. A police report has been filed, supported by witnesses and videos of the unidentified rider.
The search for the responsible party continues as Chloe navigates the aftermath of the traumatic incident in Thailand.
