Idris Elba has been bestowed with a knighthood by King Charles, officially making him a Sir. The 53-year-old renowned actor, best known for his role in “Luther,” was honored for his dedication to young people through the establishment of the Elba Hope Foundation. This foundation focuses on promoting community empowerment, education, youth advocacy, and sustainable development.

Dressed impeccably in a long black suit jacket, navy trousers, and suede shoes, Idris Elba was knighted by the King at Windsor Castle. Alongside him, skating legends Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill also received prestigious titles – Knight Bachelor and Dame Commander of the British Empire, respectively.

Accompanied by his wife Sabrina, who looked elegant in a fitted navy skirt and matching jacket, Idris shared that he utilized a grant from the UK’s Prince’s Trust (now the King’s Trust) to participate in the National Youth Music Theatre at the age of 18.

Last year, it was revealed that Idris Elba would collaborate with King Charles on a documentary commemorating the 50th anniversary of the monarch’s charity, set to premiere on Netflix this fall.

Reflecting on his past, Idris acknowledged the pivotal role of the Prince’s Trust in transforming his life. He emphasized how the Trust’s support enabled him to pursue his dreams and escape potential pitfalls that many young people face, expressing his gratitude and commitment to advocating for the Trust’s cause.

Apart from his work with King Charles, Idris Elba shares a close bond with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, having even DJed at their wedding. Recalling the pressure of performing at their grand celebration, he admitted that it was one of his most nerve-wracking experiences.
