Miriam Margolyes recently provided an update on a health issue she has been dealing with for more than four decades. The 84-year-old actress shared that she has a chronic shoulder injury that prevents her from independently putting on a bra due to her shoulder’s limited mobility.
During an appearance on The Romesh Ranganathan Show discussing her documentary “Miriam Margolyes Made Me Me,” she mentioned the challenges she faces due to her shoulder condition. Margolyes explained that her shoulder problem stems from a fall during a play many years ago, affecting her rotator cuff’s functionality, making it difficult for her to perform certain tasks like reaching behind her back.
She humorously described the process of managing her bra and expressed gratitude for the assistance she receives from her lodgers in this regard. Additionally, she candidly addressed another health issue, highlighting the struggles with a weak pelvic floor that she finds to be one of the most challenging aspects of aging.
Offering advice on pelvic floor exercises, Margolyes emphasized the importance of taking proactive steps to address such health concerns. Despite these challenges, she also shared a positive outlook on aging, noting the confidence she has gained in social situations as she approaches her 85th birthday.
In addition to her shoulder and pelvic floor issues, the Harry Potter star has undergone an aortic valve replacement and copes with Spinal stenosis, which affects her mobility. Despite these health challenges, Margolyes remains resilient and determined to navigate life with a sense of humor and grace.
