Spanish actress Ana Obregón, aged 71, recently welcomed baby Anita Sandra through surrogacy using her late son’s frozen sperm. Ana described the experience as being a “grandmother-mother,” bringing light and smiles to her previously dark world. The birth of Anita fulfilled her son Aless Lequio’s final wish. Aless tragically passed away at 27 in 2020 from Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone cancer.
Just before his death, Aless expressed his desire to have a child using the sperm he had preserved. To honor his wish, Ana traveled to the United States to find an egg donor and surrogate since surrogacy is prohibited in Spain since 2006. Aless had envisioned having five children, and Ana hasn’t ruled out expanding her family through this method.
Ana shared that Aless adored babies and had planned to name his first daughter Ana after her. She also discussed her motherhood journey at 70, expressing how Anita has brought new light into her life. Ana commemorated Anita’s birthday on Instagram, emphasizing how the child has filled her world with joy and mischief while carrying a piece of her late son.
In a heartfelt message, Ana promised to share stories of Aless’ bravery and love with Anita as they remain connected even though he is no longer physically present. She prayed for Anita’s health and happiness while acknowledging their eternal bond as a family.
On Spanish Mother’s Day, Ana reflected on her grief over her son’s death and extended solidarity to all mothers who have lost a child. She emphasized that love is a powerful force and urged others to feel their departed loved ones’ presence through love, emphasizing that they will always be mothers to them.
