Ariana Grande, known for her role in “Wicked,” expressed strong disapproval towards President Donald Trump. The 32-year-old singer, dubbed the “pop princess,” criticized Trump on TikTok for using one of her songs in a promotional video for the White House.

Her track “Bye,” released in 2024, was allegedly featured in a promotional clip for the US Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), showcasing arrests made by the federal agency. Earlier this year, ICE faced backlash following an immigration crackdown that resulted in the deaths of two individuals in Minnesota. Renee Nicole Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti were fatally shot by ICE officers within a short time frame.

In response to the TikTok video featuring her song as background music, Ariana condemned Trump and his agency, labeling them as “barbaric” and “inhumane.” She vehemently expressed her disapproval on TikTok, urging against associating her music with what she described as “barbaric” and “inhumane” actions by ICE, concluding with a strong statement against the agency.

Reports from Variety indicated that Ariana’s team worked to have her song removed from the video, and the track was apparently taken down following her request. Her spokesperson mentioned that her comment on TikTok was not publicly visible for unknown reasons.

Defending Trump’s stance, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson rephrased Ariana’s words to justify the ICE arrests depicted in the TikTok video. She argued that the focus should be on the “criminal illegal aliens” who were the true perpetrators of barbaric acts against innocent American citizens.

Ariana’s public criticism of Trump is not new. Last year, she shared a post on Instagram Stories from activist Matt Bernstein, criticizing the policies of the Trump administration. In response to Ariana’s recent remarks, White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai took a sarcastic jab at her, highlighting what he claimed were positive outcomes of Trump’s actions.

He concluded his statement with a playful remark directed at Ariana.
