Arsenal supporters are facing exorbitant expenses to journey to the upcoming Champions League final in Budapest. Flights from London to the Hungarian capital are now priced at over £1,100 for a round trip, doubling in cost since the Gunners’ recent semi-final victory over Atlético Madrid.
Accommodation in Budapest near the Puskas Arena, where Mikel Arteta’s team will compete against the victor of the Bayern Munich versus Paris St-Germain semi-final, is being advertised for more than £1,000 per night—up to four times the usual rate on regular weekends.
The least expensive three-star hotel room available on Booking.com for the final’s Friday and Saturday nights is reportedly listed at £1,426, while prices for five-star hotels start at £11,879.
In addition to these escalating expenses, match tickets, ranging from £60 to £820, will be available for sale soon. Arsenal fans, with an allocation of only 16,824 tickets in the 67,215-capacity stadium, may acquire tickets priced at £656 for restricted-view seats.
Outraged by the soaring costs, fans have taken to social media to express their concerns. Some are considering alternative travel routes through countries like Slovakia to save money, while others are contemplating a lengthy train journey through France, Germany, and Austria to reach Budapest.
Arsenal is also arranging a charter flight for supporters, priced at £859, departing from London Luton Airport to Budapest. The club is working to accommodate as many fans as possible for this significant event, offering a dedicated charter flight with complimentary bus transfers to and from Budapest Airport.
As ticket details were revealed, Arsenal announced plans to screen the final at the Emirates stadium. Ticket categories will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with some restricted-view seating options available. Specific provisions are in place for Disability Access Members and minors attending the match with adult supervision.
