A 28-year-old woman, Reymy Amelinckx from Rumst, Belgium, found herself in a peculiar situation when her dog, Marley, unexpectedly leaped onto her lap while she was enjoying a bowl of yogurt. Startled by the sudden movement, she accidentally swallowed a 17cm-long spoon that she had in her mouth to free up her hands for texting. Despite the initial shock, she tried unsuccessfully to dislodge the spoon and eventually had to make the difficult decision to swallow it rather than risk choking.
Reymy, a medical representative, initially kept the incident to herself out of embarrassment, only realizing the severity of the situation later that evening. Reymy, now dubbed as “that girl with the spoon,” returned to work soon after the incident, surprising her colleagues with the X-ray as proof of her unusual experience. She decided to keep the spoon as a memento and hinted at turning it into a unique piece of art with her boyfriend.
