Efforts are underway to locate a British woman who has gone missing in Spain under mysterious circumstances. Wendy Iles vanished while on her way back to the UK from Costa Blanca, failing to board a ferry alongside her dog, sparking concerns among her family. Her daughter, Louise, suspects that Wendy’s passport was stolen, and her phone has been turned off after losing communication with her relatives.
Family members raised the alarm when Wendy was last in touch around 9pm on Sunday in the Alfafar area near Valencia. Louise described Wendy as disoriented during their last conversation, indicating that the campervan she was driving had been stolen.
Louise has launched a desperate plea for any information regarding her mother’s whereabouts, highlighting that Wendy was accompanied by her Springer Spaniel when she disappeared. She mentioned that Wendy was believed to be in the vicinity of Silla, Alfafar, and Russafa, heading towards Caen in northern France for the return journey to the UK, which she did not make on May 23.
Described as 5ft tall and traveling with her Springer Spaniel, Wendy’s daughter is urging anyone with relevant details to come forward. She has reached out to expat communities online to spread awareness among fellow travelers.
Responding to inquiries on an expat forum about the vehicle’s theft, Louise mentioned, “I am going by our last conversation where she was without the vehicle and had reported it as stolen.”
In an update shared later on Monday, Louise, after securing an Interpol reference number, requested people in Spain to be on the lookout for her mother in the Valencia area.
Expressing frustration at the challenges in tracking Wendy’s movements, Louise highlighted the delay in authorities’ response due to protocol requirements.
Despite efforts and growing concerns, Wendy’s whereabouts remain unknown, prompting continued appeals for information from the Iles family.
The UK Foreign Office has been contacted for input regarding the ongoing search.
