“BT to Reintroduce BT Mobile for Broadband Users”

Published on

UK households with BT Broadband connections are in for a pleasant surprise as BT Mobile is set to make a comeback in the UK market. The decision to reintroduce BT Mobile comes after a pause in new customer sign-ups back in 2023, with BT’s focus shifting towards its EE network brand at that time. Now, there is a clear change in direction as BT announces that existing broadband customers will soon have access to BT-branded SIM deals once again.

While specific details are yet to be disclosed, this move indicates BT’s strategy to enhance the visibility of its well-established brand, which had taken a backseat to EE in recent years. CEO Allison Kirkby, who assumed the role in 2024, is determined to revive BT’s presence in UK households, recognizing concerns about the brand’s diminishing public recognition.

Kirkby emphasized the company’s significant investments in networks in recent years and expressed the need to further invest in brands, products, and services during an event at Wembley. This relaunch will position BT in direct competition with major providers like Vodafone and O2, as well as popular budget-friendly networks such as Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, and SMARTY.

Despite not revealing pricing details yet, BT’s plan includes offering bundled packages that combine broadband, landline, and mobile SIM services in a single monthly bill. Industry analyst Paolo Pescatore views this move as an effort by BT to stay relevant in a highly competitive telecom market, emphasizing the importance of execution in proving the network’s capability to meet real-world demands.

In addition to the relaunch, BT announced its partnership as the official telecoms provider for the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament, to be hosted across Britain and Ireland. Pescatore highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating that it showcases BT’s ability to deliver at scale and reconnect with users, households, and businesses.

He also noted that sport, like the UEFA Euro 2028, has a unique ability to unite people and create shared experiences, fostering emotional connections unlike any other platform.
