Firefighters from Warwickshire and Leicestershire responded to the blaze at the property in Witherley near Atherstone, which erupted during an overnight storm.

Unseasonably high temperatures in May have been experienced across the country this week, leading to thunderstorms in some regions. Many residents were startled awake by thunderclaps during the night, with the residents of Witherley witnessing a bungalow being directly hit by a lightning bolt.

According to a spokesperson from Nuneaton Fire Station, emergency services arrived at Orchard Close in Witherley at 3:45 am to find the bungalow engulfed in flames. Thankfully, all occupants had safely evacuated the affected properties.

Firefighters entered the bungalow but had to retreat due to the intense flames breaking through the roof, as reported by CoventryLive. Efforts were redirected to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring properties.
