The Canadian national women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a commanding 85-38 victory at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the team’s success.
Canada took an early lead of 23-4 at Arena Astros and extended their advantage to 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, will run until Sunday.
Having secured a 72-57 win over Senegal in their tournament opener, the Canadian team is set to face the host country, Mexico, in their upcoming match. The ultimate winner of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
