The 60-year-old actress, best known for her role as Jenny Gifford, expressed that she and her co-stars, including James Nesbitt, John Thomson, and Hermione Norris, are keen on bringing back the show.
In a recent statement, Fay mentioned the widespread anticipation, both from fans and family members, for the show’s return. She shared instances of being contacted by excited family members whenever rumors of a revival surfaced, emphasizing the collective desire for a reunion.
John Thompson, who portrays Fay’s on-screen husband Pete Gifford, has also hinted at a potential return, suggesting the idea of a one-off special following the success of Gavin and Stacey. The original Cold Feet series, which debuted in 1997, gained popularity and introduced stars like Fay, John, and James, who plays Adam Williams. The show returned in 2016 for a successful revival that spanned four additional series until 2020.
During an interview on the Spooning with Mark Wogan podcast, Fay expressed her initial apprehension about returning to the screen, questioning the potential outcome. She also shed light on the close bond among the cast members and their memorable nights out, particularly with James Nesbitt.
Fay credited the show’s initial success to producer Christine Langan and writer Mike Bullen, recalling the rocky start before finding its audience. Cold Feet has received numerous accolades, including a BAFTA for best drama and a Royal Television Society award for best comedy.
Acknowledging the nostalgia surrounding cultural productions from the 90s and early 2000s, Fay recognized the enduring appeal of a potential revival. She remained open to the idea, emphasizing the enjoyment and positive experiences associated with the show.
