Retaliation in Glasgow: Gang Sets Car Ablaze at Criminal Family’s Residence

Published on

An apparent act of retribution by a gang resulted in a car crashing into a residence associated with a well-known criminal family and being set on fire, marking the second similar incident this year.

The incident occurred in the Barlanark neighborhood of Glasgow during the early hours of Thursday, June 18. Emergency responders were summoned to the location as flames spread from the vehicle to the front entrance of the end-of-terrace house.

According to The Daily Record, the targeted house is connected to a family member of a subordinate to a prominent local criminal organization. This same property was previously targeted in a comparable assault in February, involving a car being rammed into the building.

A source informed The Record that the event was in retaliation for a recent firebombing at a business associated with an associate of a crime boss in Edinburgh. The source stated, “This is clearly payback for the incident in Edinburgh earlier this week. The criminal factions are retaliating this year, and this is the second time this residence has been attacked. They were not going to idly stand by and allow this to happen indefinitely. The individuals they are targeting hold high positions within the criminal organization.”

Photographs taken at the scene depict a white Nissan Juke engulfed in flames outside the property. Additional images reveal the extensively damaged burnt-out vehicle used to ram the structure, with debris from the house scattered across the yard.

The car seems to have crashed into the double window of the living room, with the panel and glass completely shattered. Scorch marks are visible on the brickwork above the window.

Law enforcement has cordoned off the premises and blocked access to the street entrance. Reportedly, two men were observed parking on a nearby street an hour before the attack.

A witness mentioned, “A vehicle parked on the street behind here about an hour before the car was driven into the house. Two individuals emerged and lingered in the area for a considerable time, not being discreet. I overheard one of them saying to the other, ‘Do you have the petrol?'”

Suddenly, a loud bang was heard from the car crashing into the property. The individuals allegedly threw a petrol bomb inside the vehicle, then fled into a nearby lane and returned to the car they arrived in.

In a separate incident last month, a skip lorry was driven into the residence of a young gang member in Edinburgh, who has been blamed for instigating drug-related conflicts in Scotland.

A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stated, “We received reports of a residential fire on Garvel Crescent, Glasgow, at 12:39 am on Thursday, June 18. Three fire engines were dispatched to the scene. There were no injuries reported, and fire crews concluded their operations at 2:32 am after ensuring the area’s safety.”
