Concerns Mount Over President Trump’s Health

A noted health specialist has raised significant worries regarding the condition of US President Donald Trump.

Trump, who will reach 80 years old in June, is set to have his third medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Center in 13 months, according to the White House. This visit has sparked increasing speculation about his well-being.

Traditionally, presidents only visit Walter Reed once a year, but Trump went twice in 2025 alone, claiming one trip was for an MRI initially, later revealed to be a CT scan.

The White House has affirmed that all of Trump’s visits to Walter Reed have been reported.

Last month, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, “He has never made an undisclosed visit to Walter Reed.”

Renowned cardiologist Jonathan Reiner expressed concerns to The Washington Post, noting, “This White House appears reluctant to acknowledge any physical issues, but as people age, medical problems can arise, and the president is nearing 80 years old.”

“There seems to be a lack of transparency from the White House,” Reiner added.

Reiner, a professor of medicine and director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at The George Washington University Hospital, observed visible swelling in Trump’s legs with alarm.

In July, the White House disclosed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition common in older individuals where veins struggle to return blood to the heart, leading to leg swelling.

Trump’s medical report from April 2025 did not mention this condition, and Reiner suggested that if it developed after the report, it could indicate a condition called acute edema, which may require further evaluation for conditions like congestive heart failure.

According to the Daily Beast, Trump’s October medical report also did not mention this condition.

The ongoing discussion about Trump’s health has focused on various concerns, including recurring bruising on the back of his hands, which the White House attributed to extensive handshaking.

Reiner remarked, “We have seen a similar bruise occasionally on his left hand, and I doubt he shakes hands with his left hand.”
