Iranian news sources have stated that potential conflict may arise if the United States attempts to access the Strait of Hormuz and disrupt Iranian vessels. An anonymous military source cited by Iran’s Tasnim news agency mentioned that although the current situation appears calm, any US attempt to re-enter the strait and disturb Iranian vessels could lead to renewed tensions in the region.

Earlier clashes were reported in the strait today, involving Iranian forces and US naval ships. The US military confirmed disabling four commercial vessels to prevent them from entering or leaving Iranian ports. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned ‘colonialism and exploitation’ on social media following reported exchanges of fire between US and Iranian forces in the strait, casting doubts on the ongoing ceasefire.

Furthermore, an Iranian military source reiterated the calmness of the situation but warned of potential conflicts if the US interferes with Iranian vessels in the region. Sporadic clashes were reported by Iran’s Fars news agency between Iranian forces and US naval ships.

The US Central Command stated that it had targeted two empty Iranian-flagged oil tankers as part of the ongoing blockade. Additionally, US forces redirected 57 commercial vessels and disabled four to prevent them from accessing Iranian ports.

In response to these developments, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized the US for opting for military actions instead of diplomatic solutions. He questioned whether the recent US strikes on Iranian shipping were a pressure tactic or a result of misleading information provided to the US leadership.

The situation remains tense as both Iran and the US continue to exchange accusations and take actions in the volatile region, raising concerns about the potential escalation of the conflict.
