David Haye has released a statement regarding his recent participation in the reality show “I’m A Celebrity” on ITV in South Africa. Haye announced his intent to sue the broadcaster for damages amounting to over £10 million, alleging that the show tarnished his reputation due to conflicts during his time in the jungle.
The 45-year-old boxer faced criticism for controversial remarks and conflicts with fellow contestant Adam Thomas. Haye expressed his determination to pursue legal action against ITV, emphasizing his discontent with how he was portrayed on the show. In a video on Instagram, he asserted his readiness to challenge the network in court, claiming that the reality TV production was heavily manipulated and directed to fit a specific narrative.
Haye insisted that the compensation he seeks from ITV will exceed £10 million, hinting at undisclosed aspects of the case. Despite his extensive boxing career, he described this legal battle as one of his most significant challenges, expressing his eagerness for the process. He emphasized the negative impact of the show’s editing on his image and expressed dissatisfaction with the portrayal.
While on the show, Haye discussed his girlfriend Sian with his campmates, making controversial remarks about physical appearance and personality. Additionally, he made derogatory comments towards Adam Thomas, who suffers from psoriatic arthritis, showing a lack of empathy towards his health condition.
ITV has been contacted by media outlets for a response to Haye’s claims.
