A distressed father is appealing to the individuals who attempted to rescue his teenage son from drowning to come forward. Alan Damon Robinson is seeking to express his gratitude to the strangers for their brave efforts to save his son, identified as Reco Puttock, who tragically lost his life at Leadbeater Dam near Halifax, West Yorkshire during the recent heatwave.
Mr. Robinson, believed to be from Bradford, took to Facebook to reach out to the “lads” who intervened, urging them to contact him so he can personally thank them. Reco was one of several young people who perished in water-related incidents over the weekend as temperatures soared above 38C. The RNLI had issued a somber warning just a week prior, emphasizing the importance of caution for young individuals near water bodies.
Meanwhile, floral tributes have been left at the site where Reco drowned, with heartfelt messages memorializing him. His mother fondly remembered her son, highlighting his strong bond with his siblings and his love for spending time with friends.
Authorities from West Yorkshire Police confirmed the tragic incident, stating that the 13-year-old boy was retrieved from the water and later pronounced dead at a hospital. Investigations are ongoing, although foul play is not suspected.
In a separate incident during the heatwave, a man in his 60s lost his life while attempting to rescue family members in distress at a beach in Padstow, Cornwall. The man’s selfless act ended tragically on bank holiday Monday.
