A United Airlines flight was compelled to conduct an emergency landing due to an incident involving a disruptive passenger attempting to access the cockpit. The flight, United UA2005, originally bound for Minneapolis from Chicago, was redirected to Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin during the incident on Friday night.
According to airline officials, the emergency landing was prompted by a disruptive individual on board. Reports from several passengers on social media indicated that the passenger was speaking loudly in Russian and engaged in a mid-flight altercation. Some passengers also claimed that the individual tried to breach the cockpit.
United Airlines released a statement affirming that the aircraft landed safely to address a security issue with the unruly passenger. The statement mentioned that the flight, United 2005, was expected to resume its journey to Minneapolis later on Friday. The Boeing 737 aircraft carried 147 passengers and six crew members, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
